Product Review: Marks & Spencer Gluten Free Cherry & Belgian White Chocolate Chunk Cookies

26 Jan

I was given these for Christmas, they looked lovely and sounded right up my street. I’m sorry to report that they are one of the worst tasting gluten-free products I have ever had! They are nothing like cookies- they are really hard and difficult to bite into. They have this strange, shiny appearance- nothing like any cookie or biscuit I have ever seen. You can’t even taste the white chocolate and the chunks have no discernible difference from the rest of the cookie. There are chewy pieces, but when you read the packet you realise that at least 50% of these aren’t even cherries but have been substituted with cranberries. The thing that really put me off is the overwhelmingly strong and unpleasant cherry flavour- it seems very un-natural and means you can’t taste anything else. I highly recommend you avoid these- there are so many good biscuits out there and these are not one of them! Hugely disappointing as M&S’s gluten free range is generally very, very good.
